Halo 3: ODST is a first-person shooter video game, developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft. It was released on the Xbox 360 video game console exclusively on September 22, 2009, nearly two years after the initial release of Halo 3. Players assume the roles of elite human United Nations Space Command soldiers known as Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODSTs) during the events of Halo 2 and Halo 3. After the alliance of alien races known as the Covenant attack Earth, the player explores the ruined city of New Mombasa to discover what happened to their missing teammates, separated from each other as they entered the city.
Bungie initially conceived ODST as a small side project to produce in the lull between Halo 3's completion and Halo: Reach. Instead of featuring recognizable characters such as the Master Chief from previous games, the developers focused on the ODSTs. Story director Joseph Staten penned a detective story utilizing film noir settings, design, and characters. Composer Martin O'Donnell abandoned his previous Halo themes to create a quieter, jazz-influenced sound. During development, the game grew in scope to that of a full-sized game.
On release, ODST became the top-selling Xbox 360 game worldwide. The title received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised the atmosphere, music, and story approach. Critics were divided on whether the relatively short campaign and included extras were enough to justify the full-game price tag. The game has sold more than 2.5 million units worldwide.

Halo 3 ODST
Well ODST has finally came out and is sitting in the consoles of many across the country. This Halo addition has satisfied many and has left many others with questions, were here to give our spin on it and help those who are still deciding.
Halo ODST is the latest addition to the Bungie Halo series. ODST starts out in the Halo 2 series as the troops of ODST are preparing to drop into battle when a collision occurs crashing your squads ship. Your player awakens hours later completely alone. Your mission is to fight the streets alone in one of the most uninviting habitats to find clues and battle sites to lead you back to your squad. The game is mainly broken down into mission points which are then broken down further into night and day missions. The night missions are mainly focused on the loneliness factor of the situation while the day encompasses major battles, action, and speed.
Halo ODST flexes it's muscles by introducing the new fire fight mode, allowing up to 4 players to face off against increasingly difficult enemies. Fire fight all on it's own is incredible and will have even the most experienced Halo player in depth and involved and sucking up coffee in the mid day hours trying to stay awake which is already reason enough to purchase the game.
The basic game play, graphics, and dynamics are great and the weapons and weapon controls have changed slightly, giving you a different and more satisfying experience that 1, 2, or 3 could not offer. The 6 hour campaign mode maybe short as defined by past Halo players but without a doubt it's one of Bungie's best. I highly recommend this game to anyone who is stuck on trying to make the final decision to leap into ODST or not. Custom Systems gives this game a 9.2 out of 10.

Halo 3 - ODST Preview
Release Date: This game is set to be released September 22nd, 2009.
Storyline n' Junk.
Halo 3: ODST(Orbital Drop Shock Troopers) is the coming addition to the Halo series for the Xbox 360, and is set during the Halo 2 timeline within the city of New Mombasa. You will first be playing as an ODST known as "the Rookie", trying to locate your five squadmates who are scattered throughout the city. Any fans of the show Firefly may be interested to know that Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, and Alan Tudyk all lend their voices as ODSTs.
The game will feature an open world environment where the player is free to explore the city while trying to find his squadmate's beacons. This is a noteworthy change of pace from the very linear gameplay the Halo series has had thus-far. That being said, there will be "flashbacks" during which the player switches to one of the other squad members and is funneled through areas with foes aplenty and guns ablaze.
Where's My Energy Shield?
Since you're not playing as a genetically enhanced several ton cyborg supersoldier, you will no longer have a rechargeable energy shield, or radar for spotting enemies. But Bungie is looking out for us, and has added a new feature to the heads up display: The VISR(Visual Intelligence System, Reconnaissance); Turn on VISR, and all enemies will be outlined in red, all friendlies will be outlined in green, and important items will be outlined in yellow. This will come in handy, as it can highlight enemies that might not otherwise be visible in the game's darker environments. Oh, and the HUD's got a nifty compass now, as well.
This... Is My Boomstick!
Okay, don't freak out, but those crazy cats at Bungie went and took out duel wielding for the campaign mode. Another result of being a mere human, I suppose. But there is some good news: Halo junkies will be glad to know that the original Halo magnum is back, in all it's zoomy, headshotty goodness; though a sound suppressor has now been added on for extra sneakiness. Also, the smg has been upgraded with tighter shooting, an increased zoom level, increased damage, and a silencer. Covenant carnage has never been so quiet.
Face Certain Death With Friends!
One feature that has a lot of the Halo 3 crowd buzzing is Firefight mode, in which up to four players play on one console or join through system link to face off against Covenant forces that increase in both number and difficulty after each wave. The first wave may see you facing off against grunts, but eventually you will be pitted against a group of Brute Chieftains. And the rounds in between are made up of randomly selected opponents, so trying to plan your way through may prove impossible. Oh, and I should mention that skulls are activated at random as well, making for an even more insanely intense fight. See how long you and your friends can survive! Maps for this gametype are unlocked as you progress through the campaign mode and total ten in all.
The Future of Gaming- Or Something.
Overall, this game looks like an interesting addition to the Halo collection, with some changes to gameplay that could freshen up a series that's becoming stale to some. And I almost forgot to mention, as an added bonus every copy of the game will come with an invitation to join in the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta, about which Bungie has been quite hush-hush.
